Urethral Stricture
Most strictures met with in surgical
practice are as a result of inflammatory disease of the urethra due to :
*
Uretheritis
*
Peritherial abscess
*
Tuberculosis
*
Post catheter or instrument
luritheritis
*
Post traumatic uretheritis
*
Non-specific urethrites.
11.4.1
CLINICAL
In the early stages of the inflammation
the patient complains of burning and pain on muturation, accompanied by
discharge later. There is straining to empty the bladder there may be palpable
tenderness or swelling along the urethra.
11.4.2
TREATMENT
After the inflamation has settled the
patient has symptoms similar to those of enlargement of the prostate.
Using calibrated dilators these strictures
are dilated. Difficult strictures may need a urethroplasty
