Testis Ureter male contraception

Male Contraception
Vasectomy is a permanent method of male contreception requiring minimum facilities simple surgical skills and has minimal complication. It is a part of the national family welfare programes.

VASECTOMY OBJECTIVE
-     to achieve permanent male contraception
-     excision of a segment of the vas deferens
-     ligation of the distal and proximal ends
POSITION
      Supine (legs apart)
ANAESTHESIA
      Local

 Bilateral Vasectomy Steps
Patient supine
Clean shave and drape serotal area
Isolate with finger and thumb the vas on one side near neck of scrotum
Inject 1% lidnocaine in skin and dartos overlying the vas
Incise skin and dartos till vas is seen
Hold with allis tissue forceps so as to isolate vas
Separate vas for 3 cm
A segment 1-2 cm is excised between ligature
The skin is closed
Procedure repeated on other side
